Gourmet Applesauce


  • 6 large or 8 medium Macintosh apples
  • 1/2 cup of shredded coconut (unsweetened)
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 3 Tbspns of maple syrup


Wash and peel the apples. Remove the seeds and slice coarsely. Put in a medium sized sauce pan and add quarter cup of water.  Over medium/low heat, stir often so apples will not stick. When apples are fork tender, add the remaining ingredients and stir well. Lower heat and simmer for about 5 minutes. Serve hot with a sprinkling of cinnamon or toasted slivered almonds.
